Brave New World Idiocracy Analysis - 849 Words

When has a person said a film was better than a book? Probably never. The film adaptation often removes important scenes from a book or critical background information that’ll justify the story’s plot. That isnt that case when comparing Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World to Mike Judge’s Idiocracy. Both manifest a problem of their society through the use of satire. Satire is a method of ridiculing a problem to people to prompt them to protest for change. Although Brave New World’s universe is a polar opposite of Idiocracy and their satirical plots effectively evoke denunciation of problems, Idiocracy more persuasively expresses their overarching satirical message. Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World is conveying the problem of ignorance is bliss.†¦show more content†¦During the scene of when Joe is being accused of â€Å"stealing† from the hospital, his lawyer, Frito, turns against him and says, â€Å"I object †¦ that this guy also broke my apartment to shit† (Mike Judge Idiocracy). Not knowing that if he could save his client from his trial, he could’ve repaid him for the damages. He also placed his personal emotional problem for Joe in front instead of acting as his lawyer. Another example is the public believing what they’re being told through advertisements. During a cabinet meeting between Joe and the other members, they ask him how to fix the crops, and Joe responds by using water instead of Brawndo. The other members refuse by saying, â€Å"It’s got electrolytes† (Mike Judge Idiocracy) and â€Å"Brawndo’s got what plants crave† (Mike Judge Idiocracy). As Joe questi ons them on why Brawndo is good for the plants, they continue to repeat the same lines, lines from Brawndo’s advertisement. Since it’s a commercial and shown throughout the country, it must be true to the idiotic minds of the 2505 citizens of the United States. In comparison of the strength of their satirical portrayals, Idiocracy is much more understandable. The reason it’s so effective is because of the visual aid that it offers. A movie creates a shortcut for the viewer, providing a certain point of view of a problem. It’s simple but still gets to the point of the issue; however, it’s comedic characteristic can stray the
